Sustainability

Our commitment

Sustainability is increasingly important to our attendees and exhibitors, and to the ITS industry as a whole. Managing the ITS World Congress offers us substantial opportunities to improve the impact of our presence in the host city from a social, environmental and economic perspective. As organisers of this significant and global event, we would like to profile our responsibility and play a constructive role in improving sustainability through connecting visitors to the right networks and offering them knowledge to help solve the big challenges in the sector.

Assist the ITS industry through inspiring sustainable development

We focus on:

  • Using our content to support the sustainability of the market the event serves
  • Inspiring suppliers, exhibitors and other stakeholders to deliver a sustainable event
  • Developing market relevant partnerships

Our efforts include:

  • Innovation & future of mobility by showcasing products that answer future challenges
  • The Congress programme has a dedicated topic on sustainability

Manage the event in an environmentally responsible manner

We focus on:

  • Reducing the event’s carbon emissions
  • Creating less waste
  • Considering sustainability as an important criteria for the selection of our suppliers

Our efforts include:

  • Most of the ITS World Congress suppliers and partners have a recognized sustainable certification or sustainable policies in place.
  • Feature areas carefully designed to generate a minimal amount of waste
  • Participants materials are reduced &/or produced in recycled material
  • Catering contains locally sourced, seasonal and organic ingredients and provides a variety of vegetarian options
  • The ITS World Congress website and event app will be populated with electronic versions of the agenda and instructions, and supporting documents, reducing the need for paper print-outs. We are reducing the use of paper in favour of electronic options, and the use of sustainable materials in any displays.

Be socially responsible in the way we manage the event

We focus on:

  • Delivering business safely and ethically
  • Considering wellbeing and accessibility
  • Creating a positive impact on Congress host cities

Our efforts include:

  • The Start-up Area encourages accessibility for the ITS industry’s younger generation
  • Reduction of local traffic congestion by encouraging the use of public transport
  • Working with local suppliers and locally-owned businesses to ensure a positive impact on the local economy

Our Charity Support

Last but not least, we are proud to announce that ITS World Congress will be supporting the Cookstove Ghana project.

The carbon offset project we have selected is investing in efficient cooking stoves in Ghana in order to reduce CO2, while improving people’s quality of life, reducing deforestation and improving air quality.
