The manual parking process of today is frustrating, occupies valuable public space and leads to congestions and emissions with its extensive parking search traffic. With automated on-street valet parking, customers can exit their car at a point of interest or near a public transport station and the vehicle drives autonomously to the next free parking spot- preferably outside the city center.
The accompanying mobility advantages are presented regarding convenience and time savings for users, possibilities for a reduction of urban traffic and optimized use of parking space as well as synergies for an efficient use of e-charging stations.
The demonstration is part of the UrbanSmartPark project (www.urbansmartpark.com), which was funded by the EIT Urban Mobility.
